From the grand Taj Mahal and the huge fort in Agra to the beautifully carved erotic temples of the 10th century Chandela Kings and the memorable bathing ghats of Varanasi, on the banks of the holy Ganga, you will not just see it, you will  experience the real heart of India.

 
 

Day 01 Arrive Delhi, transfer to hotel.

Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be met and transferred to hotel.  Rest of the day at leisure, go through jet lag.

Overnight  in Delhi.

Day 02 Overland Delhi-Jaipur
MEAL: Breakfast

Morning tour of New Delhi, India’s capital and an important gateway into the country. New Delhi is a bustling metropolis- an interesting mix of fast paced modernization and carefully preserved antiquity.

Drive past President’s palac,  also known as Rashtrapati Bhawan, India gate, a World War I memorial. Lutyen’s city is characterized by wide, tree-lined avenues, parks and palaces built for important Indian Princes for photography. Visit Humayuns Tomb, built in the mid-16th century by Haji Begum, the Persian born senior wife of Humayaun, the second Mughal empero. This is wonderful early example of Mughal architecture.

Later drive to Jaipur.

Day 03 Full day tour of Jaipur
MEAL: Breakfast

Morning visit Amber fort built in the 17th Century, the palace is a distinguished specimen of Rajput architecture. Take a joy ride on an elephant back at Amber Fort. Set in a picturesque location, Amer is fascinating blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Built in the 16th century by Raja Man Singh, it sprawls on the hillside. Built in red sandstone and white marble, the palace complex has some very interesting apartments, the likes of which are not to be found anywhere else in the country.

Next is the Pink City Palace which now houses a museum containing rare manuscript, painting and an armory. Also visit the Palace of Winds-a Landmark of Jaipur made of pink sandstone and of unique design. Continue to Jantar Mantar-Observatory (Astronomical instrument).

Overnight in Jaipur. 

Day 04 Overland Jaipur -Agra
MEAL: Breakfast

Early morning drive to Agra. Arrive and check in to hotel .

Later visit Taj Mahal, (CLOSED ON FRIDAY) , the most extravagant monument ever built for love. It was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his second wife Mumtaz Mahal, described by the Indian classical poet Tagore as a “tear on the face of eternity”.

Continue to Agra Fort, the construction of the massive red sandstone Agra Fort on the bank of River Yamuna, was begun by Emperor Akbar in 1565. The auricular fort’s colossal double walls rise over 20 m in height and measure 2.5 km in circumference.

Overnight in Agra.

Day 05 Train Agra-Jhansi, drive to Orcha - Khajuraho.
MEAL: Breakfast

Transfer to the railway station for train to Jhansi. Arrive Jhansi and drive to Khajuraho.

En-route visit Orchha’s grandeur, which  has been captured in stone, frozen in time & a rich legacy to the ages. On this medieval city, the hand of time has rested lightly. The places and the temples built by its Bundela rulers in the 16th and 17th century retain much of their pristine glory. Jahangir Mahal, a tiered palace crowned by graceful Chhatris has a spectacular view of soaring temple spring & cenotaphs.

Copntinue to  Khajuraho.

Day 06 Tour of Khajuraho, fly Khajuraho-Varanashi
MEAL: Breakfast

Mornign visit the world famous Khajuraho temples, which were built by the Chandela Kings between 950 AD and 1050 AD. The most important are the Chaunset Yogni Temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, The Mahadev Temple, Chitragupta or Bharatji Temple with a lovely image of 11 headed Vishnu, Vishvanath and Nandi Temple, Lakshmana Temple, Visha Temple of Shiva, which is largest & most typical of temples.

The next is  Eastern group of temples that consist of the Parasvanath Temple – the only Jain Temple Surviving at Khajuraho and has excellent sculptures on the outer walls of the Sanctum and the Javeri Temple dedicated to Vishnu. The other temples in this group are those dedicated to Brahma, Yamuna and Adinath.

Later transfer to the airport for flight to Varanasi. You will be met at the airport upon arrival and tranferred to hotel.

Evening visit the Ghats (steps) to witness evening prayer on the banks of the river Ganges.

Day 07 Tour of Varanasi
MEAL: Breakfast

Early morning transfer to the riverfront for a dawn boat ride along the Ghats River Ganges when devotees offer their Morning Prayer venerating holy water. Return to the hotel for breakfast.

Later walk through the narrow alleyways of Old Varanasi exploring some important temples. Excursion to Sarnath, where Buddha preached his first sermon middle way to final Nirvana in the Deer park. The Dhamek Stupa marks the spot. The four headed iron pillar (20 meter high) also known as the Ashoka Pillars in the archeological museum.

The Vihara built by the Mahabodhi society enshrines the sacred Buddhist relics found at the other sites and houses frescoes depicting scenes from Buddha’s life.

Overnight  in Varanashi.

Day 08 Fly Varanashi - Delhi, and connect your flight to U.S. or an extension
MEAL: Breakfast

At an appointed time, transfer to the airport and fly to Delih, and connect your flight  to U.S. or extend your trip to other parts of India, Nepal or Bhutan.

    • Are the trip and price guaranteed?
      The trip is guaranteed even with the sign-up of the minimum of two people. The price shown with departure date is also guaranteed once you send us a trip application form with a deposit of $350.00. Otherwise, it may change until we receive the trip applications form.
    • What is internal air?
      There are flights involved in the trip. Internal Air is the flights between one city/place to another during the trip. Since the airfares keep changing, we do not include this in the land cost.
    • Can you arrange my flights from/to U.S.?
      Yes, we can arrange your flights from/to U.S. We can match the online airfare, if not lower one. You just need to email us your full name as appears on the passport and departure city in U.S. We will then send you a quote for the flight. To issue the ticket, we just need your credit card details.
    • How soon do I book the trip?
      The sooner you book, the better it is, because getting lower airfare from U.S. is higher when you book well in advance. Also, it is hard to get seats on some of the internal flight if it is closer to departure date. You can usually make the international flight reservation nine months prior to your departure date.
    • Do I need visa, permit & entrance fees?
      Yes, you need a visa for India. We will give you info about how and where to get India visa once the trip is booked. All the other permits and entrance fees are included in the trip.
    • What about the weather?
      October to March is the best time for this trip. The weather generally stays nice and not hot, and the chance of rain is very low during the period..
    • When do I need to pay?
      At the time of booking, you need to send us $ 350.00 deposit with a trip application form. $ 1000 is due 3 months prior to departure, and balance is due 2 months prior to departure. For the internal flight, you may need to pay about 5-6 months as we need to issue the tickets to secure the flight seats.
    • How big are the groups?
      Our groups are usually small, so you get the personalized services from local guides. There must be minimum of 2 people to run the trip and the maximum is 10 people in the group.
    • How difficult is the trip?
      This is an easy trip. You will be spending from around 8 AM to 4 PM touring around, going from one place to another taking drive and enjoying the world famous monuments/heritage sites, and experiencing the local culture and way of life in India.
    • Do I need travel insurance & where I purchase it?
      We strongly recommend you to purchase the travel insurance which protects you, in case if you had to cancel the trip or other reasons like flight delay, flight cancellation, and medical evacuation. Once you book the trip, we can send you a Travel Insurance Quote. You can either buy through the link we send you or from your choice of other insurance companies.
    • What about accommodations, meals & upgrade?
      You will be staying in nice, comfortable accommodation with attached bath. Your breakfast is always included. Lunch and dinner are not included. A decent meal will cost you about $ 10-15 in tourist class restaurant. If you like to upgrade it to higher end hotels, that is also possible with additional price.
    • What about guide, drivers and travel during the period?
      We provide experienced driver and English speaking local guides during the tour. You will be traveling in comfortable private Car or van or mini bus with driver/guide depending on the number of people in the group.
    • Can I extend my trip?
      Yes, you can extend your trip to other parts of India, Nepal or Bhutan or destinations in Asia. You may like to inform this at the time of booking the trip, should you book the international flight with us. We would be happy to arrange your extension as well.
    • Can we make this as a private trip on our own date?
      es, we can arrange this trip as a private trip on your own date. However, the price will be higher.
