Over centuries Mongolia and Tibet has had close cultural and religious bounding through the practice of Buddhism. Even today the similarity is noticeable however, their cultures have evolved independently and remained quite unique. This trip explores both the cultures and how the ancient ways have held on tenaciously despite the ravaging influence of modernization. Religion is still the focus of daily lives and centers around all major activities and festivities.
We spend 8 days in Mongolia visiting the capital city Ulaanbaatar, Bayangobi, Erdene Zuu Monastery and the Terelz National Park and Bogdo Khan National Park, we fly to Tibet via Chengdu. In Tibet we spend two days witnessing the festival, Buddhist rituals and Tibetan opera. Locals come out in their finest dresses with picnic lunch to enjoy the festival. We visit the Potala palace, Norbulingkha Palace, Jokhang and travel through the countryside of Shigatse, Gyantse, Samye and Tsedang.
