The Shan state features cool and verdant hills, while the long coastline offers endless golden beaches still to be opened up for tourism. From North to South flows majestic Ayeyarwaddy (Irrawaddy) River, one of the World's greatest rivers and a source of agricultural wealth to millions. Myanmar is also home to 135 different ethnic groups. Each group has its own distinct customs, culture and dialect.
