This 15 day tour to Sikkim, Darjeeling and Bhutan offers unique travel opportunity in the Himalayas. Geographical contrasts abound with a rich amalgamation of ecosystems ranging from sub tropical to the high mountain ranges, which hold a wide variety of endangered species, a wealth of flora and fauna, and the unique cultures and traditions of the people. Drive to the picturesque hill town of Darjeeling, known the world over for its high quality tea grown in the shadows of Mt. Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest peak, will be a memorable experience. We will spend a full day visiting places of interest including the tea gardens located around town. Early morning drive to Tiger Hill to see the kaleidoscope of colors over the mountains as the sun rises, and then resume our drive to Rumtek in Sikkim. In Rumtek we visit the Rumtek Monastery, which is the seat of the Karmapa Lama and then continue to the Sikkimese Capital of Gangtok enroute to the town of Pemayangtse. From Pemayangtse we drive through the Bhutanese border town of Phuntsholing to Bhutan and spend the next seven days in this tiny Buddhist Kingdom visiting monasteries, temples, fortresses, villages and farmhouses that dot the countryside. Bhutan is perhaps the only few remaining travel destinations to rightfully hold the title of “Last Shangri-La”. A trip to Bhutan offers a unique opportunity to experience the Himalayan Buddhist culture preserved in ancient traditions, untouched by the outside world.
